From looking to how we perform now compared to a year ago, the difference is staggering! Coach Cannatelli has given us a new level of confidence on and off stage. We perform so much better and we play a lot tighter. All the hard work the Coach put us through paid off when we went on tour with The Faim. The tour was over four days with dates in Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane. I did about 90% of the driving which were overnight drives. Sydney and Brisbane I was performing on about 4 hours sleep over the whole tour. Coach Cannatelli’s sessions taught me how to push pass being sleep deprived and put on a good show. If you are looking to kick-start your career, or further develop it you cannot look past Future Artist Development. I can't express enough how lucky we are to have something like this in Australia.

We started working with Future Artist Development at a crucial time of Pridelands. We had an unreleased EP waiting to go out independently and a few very daunting months ahead. As soon as Coach Cannatelli started working with us he immediately made us all feel stronger as individuals and as a unit. By the end of the very first session, we all knew what needed to change with Pridelands. The Coach and the rest of the team at FAD were there every step of the way. The Coach sparked new ideas, redesigned old ones and pushed us to think of unique ways to approach the performance and operation of this band. He was there for live shows, music video shoots and even helped us with logistics of the band. It was the first time we have ever had an external opinion that was so important and so beneficial to how this band worked. As a drummer the Coach honed in on my tightness, stamina, performance and creativity and together we worked out something that worked better for me, for the band and for the audience. I have never felt so comfortable with my performance. Working with Coach Cannatelli has been an absolute pleasure! When the idea came up to work with him at first I was very against the idea. I thought our stage presence was great, we had never gotten any complaints and I really thought it was our strong point. I was worried that bringing someone else in would ruin the vibe and would just be a waste of time.
Literally within five minutes of our first session I realised how wrong I was! Steve doesn’t come in and change you, he comes in works with you on what vibe you want to create; and he helps mould and direct you to achieve that. The first points he gave us from our previous live shows instantly clicked in my brain and I all of a sudden saw all these flaws in our show. I was gobsmacked, this dude was the real deal and within one session our live show had instantly improved.
There are so many things that he taught us from that one session alone that I'll carry on and use in my playing forever. Working with Coach Cannatelli regularly is now a must for me. It’s all about developing the overall picture of your live show, giving clear direction and tasks for your own playing and performance; and bringing the whole band as a team together. Having worked with and known Coach Cannatelli since 2012 he has always had a great eye and ear for up and coming artists. As part of ‘Storm The Sky’ we first brought The Coach into the rehearsal space during our preparation for the debut ‘UNIFY - A Heavy Music Gathering’. As three self-taught band members when we looked to get help from Steve, we found it to be exciting as we heard nothing but great things about him. However, we were also scared that he would come in and tear us to shreds. From the moment we met him we enjoyed every second. He turned out to be one of the nicest guys I personally ever met. All the things he ever told us felt well directed and said in a way that was only meant to be for the better of us as a band. He is full of useful advice. What an experience, what a journey, why do my arms still hurt so much?!
Coach Canatelli was an absolute champion getting us to become better musicians, band mates and most importantly performers. It had been 6 years since I had played/performed and was more than rusty coming back into the scene. This man made it his mission to change that. He can see potential in anyone and won’t stop until he breaks you (in a good way).
You can know how to play your instrument and be technical in every aspect - but being able to perform and put on a show is something else. That was the biggest lesson that we learned. The eight weeks with Coach Cannatelli is definitely an experience like no other. I went in not knowing what to expect not having heard of band coaching at all, but his catalog of bands is definitely an appealing one so I was sure it’d be worth it. Coach Cannatelli caters to what you need, he turns your live show on its head and tells you about a bunch of things you didn’t even know you were doing wrong, whatever you need help with; live show, marketing, show booking you name it and the Coach knows it or knows the person to help. The main benefit we got from working with the Coach is a life long friend who’s main interest is what’s best for you and the band. Get onto this man before he’s booked out for the next 5 years because every band that works with him makes such a big improvement, the only downfall is that he’s only one man and we all have to share him.

Coach Cannatelli a started working with us as part of a band mentoring program with Arkive in mid-2016. The Coach immediately identified areas in which we could improve and clearly explained to us what it would take for us to get from where we were to where we wanted to be. Coach Cannatelli worked us HARD because we needed it.
For me personally this was the a huge part of learning about what it actually takes to bring your band from a rabble of musicians into a tight unit. Because of The Coach's guidance and mentor-ship we were able to see improvements after only a few sessions. Most importantly I think Coach Cannatelli got us to start thinking like a band, like a cohesive unit.
At the same time The Coach supported us to find our individual roles within the band. Once we did this we were able to be a lot more productive and things started to run smoothly. As a musician, I struggled with severe performance anxiety, which would result in a bland performance and often mistakes that can be avoided. I also struggled with coordination between playing guitar and moving to core accents (more than the average musician). On the very first day of Canatelli’s performance program, I was shaky nervous. However, Steve has this ability to examine/analyze a person as an individual and work out a plan for them to succeed. He almost straight away worked out how to comfort me and within about an hour I was already feeling very calm.
After a few weeks of the program, I was progressing rapidly. My anxiety as a performer was completely gone and Steve’s training to break through the coordination issues started to take a dramatic affect. By the end of the program, I couldn’t believe the difference! I’m basically a completely different performer/musician. I was not only playing more precisely in terms of musicianship, but also, I am now utilizing choreography during sets confidently.

As a full band, we first met ‘The Coach’ at a Christmas show that we were playing in 2019. We had heard of The Coach and the work he does with Future Artist Development so we struck up conversation to learn a little more about the in-depth work that he does with bands. At first, it would be a lie to say that we weren’t all sceptical of the methods & means to which The Coach was conducting sessions with bands and we struggled to understand the benefits from a distance, however throughout the night of our show we witnessed an awesome stage performance by a band that had worked with The Coach which tweaked our interest even further…. Needless to say, we took a chance, jumped on board the 8 week program and never looked back.
After completing the program it’s difficult to comprehend our initial scepticism. Through adopting a structured plan we were able to conquer the 8 week program, coming out the other side a whole new band on-stage with a broader view of the industry as a whole. Aside from solely coaching our band to perform as a more cohesive unit on-stage, Steve was always more than willing to give advice/guidance based on the many years of experience he’s had within the industry.

Having done the 8 hour one day session previously, we thought we knew what was in store for us when booking Coach Cannatelli from Future Artist Development to take our live show to the next level. We were wrong. Coach is the human embodiment of "train hard, play hard". He picked us apart and stitched us back together over the eight day course. By the second day, we were second guessing if we could make it through to the end, but Steve balances hard work and fun perfectly to keep spirits and motivation up while pushing us past what we previously thought were our limits.
Not only did Steve help us in a live setting, his knowledge and passion of the industry bought forward ideas that we hadn't even considered, and after going through the course with him he made it very clear that he would be there to guide us whenever we need in the future.
We decided to do the 8 day course over 4 weeks instead of 8, doing back-to-back weekend sessions and for bands that have the work ethic to get through it, I would highly recommend this option. The layout of "here's what to work on" on Saturday and "let's put it into practice" Sunday while it's still fresh in the mind was perfect for us.

After the lockdowns of 2020 and a change in our line up, we knew we needed to build a stronger foundation if we were going to survive the world reopening. Coach Cannatelli provided us with not only the means to build a hell of a show but he also helped us form an identity and define ourselves as artists. To say there was a lot of scepticism in the band going into that first session with Coach Cannatelli would be an understatement. However by the end of that first rehearsal every ounce of doubt in the room, along with seventy percent of our bodily fluids, was gone. It was clear to every member of the band that this was a man who could help us to break in to the next level.
Look, he’s not a miracle worker. He can’t make you something you’re not, and he can’t help you if you aren’t willing to work. But if you are willing to put in the effort then he can and will pull the absolute best out of you. Coach Cannatelli will push you hard. I came out of each session believing I had been pushed to my peak, and then, without fail, a week later I found myself reaching beyond it. Our playing is tighter, our transitions smoother, and our movement more passionate. Because of The Coach our live show has become more than just a bunch of guys playing some songs. He helped us develop our live show and galvanised us together to be detail oriented, powerfully energetic and feed off each other’s energy as a cohesive force. He developed our stage presence as individuals and ensured they complimented one another, while allowing us to express ourselves authentically. To be completely honest, we had our doubts when we first heard about Future Artist Development. We knew we had to improve, our live performance was lacking and the group dynamic definitely needed work. We just weren’t sure if the 8 Week Coaching Program was going to be the best way to go about it.
But we decided to take the chance, and by the end of our first session with FAD we knew we’d made the right call.
